Phase 2 of The House Behind The Trees ~ The downstairs #TeelsBuildaHouse

So we are starting the downstairs ... I HATE to say basement because we had a basement in our old home, where you opened a door and went down stairs separated from anything else. It was a finished basement complete with a bedroom, craft room, family/game room and we spent a lot of time there ~ our oldest son moved down there in jr high and stayed through high school ... until we finished the master suite in the attic then he moved back up to the bedroom floor with his brother and sister.  So here our downstairs is open to the rest of the house, you can see through to the outside from the top of the stairs going down because we have a wall of windows down there as well.  We really didn't plan to have a kiddo down there but since we are having to do a switch-a-roo with rooms (I'll explain later) he is moving home soon and will be downstairs. Anyhoo, our downstairs will house our main family room, our middle sons room, a full bath and kitchenette.  I thought it would be fun ...

Receive Forgiveness

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?" Romans 6:1

I often have very strong feelings and emotions that I don’t seem to be able to control! I'm sure you can relate... BUT the truth is, we don’t have to live life based on our feelings! We have a free will and we can choose to believe God’s Word more than we believe how we feel at the time.

When we begin to live by the Word of God and what we know through Him instead of how we feel, and I know that that is a lot easier said than done, our feelings will eventually change and line up with the Word.

You see Satan uses guilt, our guilt to steal from us, which is sometimes a false guilt because much of the time we have nothing to be guilty for.  We can repent, ask God to forgive us, and even believe He has forgiven us, and yet we still feel guilty ~ we still carry the burden of guilt everywhere we go.

When we go to Him in prayer we often go over one of two things: all of our problems or all of our mistakes. The Bible says ask and receive that your joy may be full. We ask for forgiveness, but we never (or often never) take the time to receive. We need to be saying, “I receive your forgiveness right now.” Don’t just ask, ask and receive so that we can take the next step and be filled with joy.  Remember, where sin does abound, grace and forgiveness and mercy does much more abound.

Heavenly Father, forgive me for my sins. I receive Your forgiveness today and trust that Your grace is covering me.  Grant me joy as I press on with whatever it is that You have in store for me.  In Jesus name, Amen.
