Phase 2 of The House Behind The Trees ~ The downstairs #TeelsBuildaHouse

So we are starting the downstairs ... I HATE to say basement because we had a basement in our old home, where you opened a door and went down stairs separated from anything else. It was a finished basement complete with a bedroom, craft room, family/game room and we spent a lot of time there ~ our oldest son moved down there in jr high and stayed through high school ... until we finished the master suite in the attic then he moved back up to the bedroom floor with his brother and sister.  So here our downstairs is open to the rest of the house, you can see through to the outside from the top of the stairs going down because we have a wall of windows down there as well.  We really didn't plan to have a kiddo down there but since we are having to do a switch-a-roo with rooms (I'll explain later) he is moving home soon and will be downstairs. Anyhoo, our downstairs will house our main family room, our middle sons room, a full bath and kitchenette.  I thought it would be fun ...

Abundance and Harvest

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap...” Luke 6:38

Our God is a God of abundance! He wants to pour out His abundance on each of us until we are so full that we are running over! But, notice how today’s verse starts. It says, “Give and it will be given to you.” That’s because our giving sets the blessing of God into motion in our life. When we give, we plant a seed. If we were to plant an apple seed, we wouldn’t just grow one single fruit. Rather,  that one seed grows into a tree that produces an abundance of apples! That’s what happens when we obey God in our giving ~ we get an abundant harvest in return. We can reap so much that we have to give some of it away, and the cycle just keeps repeating itself!

This is the time of year that usually gets us thinking about giving and receiving.  Is there something the Lord is telling you to give? You don't have t have money to give, you can give food, time, clothing, even a hug and smile. Think about it, what do you have that you can bless someone else with?  It's really easy....maybe a co-worker always admires a bracelet you wear, try parting with it for the sake of another.......take that step of faith and open the door to His abundance in every area of your life!  Expect his abundant harvest this season as you bless someone else!

Father, I receive Your Word into my heart today. Thank You for choosing to bless me so that I can be a blessing to others. Show me where I can give to others and teach me to receive all You have for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.
