Phase 2 of The House Behind The Trees ~ The downstairs #TeelsBuildaHouse

So we are starting the downstairs ... I HATE to say basement because we had a basement in our old home, where you opened a door and went down stairs separated from anything else. It was a finished basement complete with a bedroom, craft room, family/game room and we spent a lot of time there ~ our oldest son moved down there in jr high and stayed through high school ... until we finished the master suite in the attic then he moved back up to the bedroom floor with his brother and sister.  So here our downstairs is open to the rest of the house, you can see through to the outside from the top of the stairs going down because we have a wall of windows down there as well.  We really didn't plan to have a kiddo down there but since we are having to do a switch-a-roo with rooms (I'll explain later) he is moving home soon and will be downstairs. Anyhoo, our downstairs will house our main family room, our middle sons room, a full bath and kitchenette.  I thought it would be fun ...

Refuse to Worry

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Matthew 6:27

This is a depressing time of year, unfortunately! We start to worry about getting this year "right", paying off our holiday bills, what kind of things this new year will old in store for us.....and the list can go on and on.

BUT God doesn’t want us to live worried and anxious about this year, or last year, about anything! He knows that worry is counterproductive because it steals our peace and joy and affects every area of our life ~ our sleep, our health, our relationships, even our peace. Worry steals precious moments of time that we can never get back.

We should rather be thinking about starting this year off right ~ decide today to put an end to worry in our life. Don’t feed worry by focusing on bad news all the time. Sure, we should be informed, but we should be more informed of the truth of the Word of God. Feed our faith by meditating on His Word and fill our heart and mind with God’s promises. Declare every day, “My God shall supply all of my needs. He makes a way out of no way. He is the Restorer and Redeemer.”

As we focus on God’s Word, we’ll drive out worry and fill our heart with faith and expectancy. We’ll experience His peace and joy and move forward into the blessings God has in store for us in this New Year!

Heavenly Father, today I choose to put an end to worry in my life. I choose to feed my faith by studying Your promises and declaring Your Word over my life. Help me to totally trust in You today and always in Jesus’ name. Amen.
