Phase 2 of The House Behind The Trees ~ The downstairs #TeelsBuildaHouse

So we are starting the downstairs ... I HATE to say basement because we had a basement in our old home, where you opened a door and went down stairs separated from anything else. It was a finished basement complete with a bedroom, craft room, family/game room and we spent a lot of time there ~ our oldest son moved down there in jr high and stayed through high school ... until we finished the master suite in the attic then he moved back up to the bedroom floor with his brother and sister.  So here our downstairs is open to the rest of the house, you can see through to the outside from the top of the stairs going down because we have a wall of windows down there as well.  We really didn't plan to have a kiddo down there but since we are having to do a switch-a-roo with rooms (I'll explain later) he is moving home soon and will be downstairs. Anyhoo, our downstairs will house our main family room, our middle sons room, a full bath and kitchenette.  I thought it would be fun ...

Matilda Jane Christmas Gifts

Here are some amazing gifts any teacher, friend, momma, sister, grandma, aunt, co-worker, etc would love to receive! Shop these gifts through the Shop Matilda Jane with Me link on the right side of the screen.

An insulated wine tumbler covered with a gorgeous floral print — does it get any better? Add on our coordinating wine bag with her favorite bottle of wine tucked in for the wine-lover in your life. This is super easy gift idea for treating the hostess!

Our No Pouting Coffee Mug Set features two mugs — one floral, one striped — with the cutest little polka dot print inside. These generously-sized mugs are perfect for your morning coffee or evening hot cocoa, and can either be gifted as a set or split up for two different gifts. Toss in a couple pouches of cocoa or a bag of coffee grounds to top off your gift.

We love the versatility of our Secret Santa Pouch Set! Like our coffee mug set, you can split up the three pouches for separate gifts or keep them together. With three different sizes in each set, these pouches are great for travel, organizing school supplies or even tossing into your purse to separate your essentials. These pouches can also serve as a unique (and sustainable!) way to “wrap” smaller gifts like candy and gift cards.

Great for the friend who loves to bake or is always the hostess, our Baking Day Towel Set features two towels in varying prints (including our gorgeous poinsettia floral). Trimmed with the most adorable pom-pom detail, this towel set is perfect for those Pinterest-worthy recipes — speaking of which, check out our Caramel Apple Pie recipe here!
