Phase 2 of The House Behind The Trees ~ The downstairs #TeelsBuildaHouse

So we are starting the downstairs ... I HATE to say basement because we had a basement in our old home, where you opened a door and went down stairs separated from anything else. It was a finished basement complete with a bedroom, craft room, family/game room and we spent a lot of time there ~ our oldest son moved down there in jr high and stayed through high school ... until we finished the master suite in the attic then he moved back up to the bedroom floor with his brother and sister.  So here our downstairs is open to the rest of the house, you can see through to the outside from the top of the stairs going down because we have a wall of windows down there as well.  We really didn't plan to have a kiddo down there but since we are having to do a switch-a-roo with rooms (I'll explain later) he is moving home soon and will be downstairs. Anyhoo, our downstairs will house our main family room, our middle sons room, a full bath and kitchenette.  I thought it would be fun ...

Shop My Home ~ The Kitchen Deets

I get dm'd about our kitchen layout more than anything else ... probably because people know that our house isn't completely done so there are a lot of glimpses into our entryway and kitchen.  I thought I would share a little bit of the kitchen today and link some of my finds or equivalents from Amazon.  


Our whole house plan revolved around the kitchen ~ I wanted a U shaped with no uppers and all windows and that what the husband drew up for me (he's a gem).  We haven't finished the trim work, hood vent or backsplash but over all the main part and details are finished.

Island Pendant Light: mine are discontinued but they have a variation of it Crate & Barrel or this Amazon light which I equally LOVE

Runner: this rug which if I had $1 for everyone who asks about it, would be able to pay off my house AND unfortunately it is sold out. I would love to get another one but it is also discontinued POO!  Here is one with the same colors from Amazon ... the problem I had is finding one that filled the 14' space and this comes up to 12'.

Bar Stools: Pottery Barn These were a little more than I wanted to spend but we needed counter height and wanted backs and swivel. There isn't a seagrass swivel that I could find on Amazon but this one is very similar in colors and style.

Kithcen and Island Sink: Amazon I wanted a DEEP sink 10" or deeper and this sink from Zhune is AMAZING, I can't recommend them enough!
